Submit a Production Proposal
The Production Proposal form is for CMAC members who would like to create a new video production. All CMAC members are required to submit a production proposal and receive an approval notice via email BEFORE they can reserve any of our recording equipment or facilities. This helps us stay up-to-date with member projects and the use of community resources.
Once submitted, a designated staff member will reach out to discuss your proposal prior to approval. Please allow at least ONE WEEK for processing.
Please be sure to review your production proposal before submitting. You can also refer to our FAQ section down below for additional guidance on what we’ll need from you. If you have any questions, you can email us at info@cmac.tv.
We look forward to helping you make your production a reality!
Q: What is a production proposal?
A production proposal is a brief description of your video project. It includes details about your topic or story, your timeline, team members, and a general plan for bringing your idea to life.
Q: Why do I need to submit a production proposal?
In addition to managing PEG access channels, CMAC operates a membership-based video production facility for the community. To access our recording equipment and creative spaces, you must:
- Have an active CMAC membership
- Submit a video production proposal
- Receive project approval from a CMAC staff member
This process helps us manage community resources, stay informed about member projects, and track how our non-profit organization supports the community. We do not have editorial control over your content — your creative vision remains yours.
Important: Equipment and facilities cannot be reserved until you receive an approval notice via phone or email.
Q: What information do I need for a production proposal?
When submitting a proposal, please provide the following:
- Your name and contact information
- The title of your project
- A 1-2 sentence logline describing what your project is about
- A filming schedule or timeline
- The estimated length of your completed video
- A list of crew members (if applicable)
If you don’t have exact dates or details yet, that’s okay — estimates are fine!
Q: When can I expect to receive a response?
You can expect to receive a response within 7 business days (approximately one week) from the time your application is submitted. Please note that all submissions are reviewed in the order they are received to ensure fairness and careful consideration. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we take the time to thoughtfully review each application.
Q: What kinds of projects can I submit?
CMAC welcomes a wide range of video projects, including but not limited to:
- Short films
- Documentaries
- Talk shows or podcasts (with a video component)
- Community event coverage
- Music videos
- Experimental or creative works
- Educational Content
If you have a unique idea, we encourage you to submit a proposal and discuss your vision with our Education Specialists.
Q: I have an idea for a creative project. Do I have to make a video?
Yes. Currently, all production proposals are required to have a video component. However, if you have a creative idea that doesn’t involve video, reach out to us! We’re happy to explore ways you can develop your idea to meet the production proposal guidelines.
Q: When can I check out equipment or reserve facilities?
Members can check out equipment and use CMAC’s facilities AFTER submitting a production proposal and receiving project approval from our Education Specialists.
Q: What happens after my production proposal is approved?
Once your proposal is approved, you’ll gain access to our member portal, where you can:
- Reserve creative spaces in our media center, including:
- TV Studio
- Podcast Studio
- Express Studio
- Audio Booth
- Editing Bays
- Book equipment for on-location shoots, such as:
- Cameras
- Microphones
- Lighting kits
- Schedule a one-on-one consultation with our education specialist to help you get started and guide you through your video production process.
Once your project is complete, simply submit your finished video for playback on CMAC channels and streaming services — then repeat the process for your next production!
Q: Will CMAC staff be available to help me during my production?
As a community media center, the creative work is driven by you—the community member. While our staff is always happy to assist, our goal is to set you up for success by providing the skills and resources you need to confidently complete your projects on your own.
If you’re feeling unsure about using the equipment or facilities, don’t worry—we’ve got you covered. Attend our workshops for hands-on experience, or schedule a one-on-one consultation with an Education Specialist. Your story matters, and we’re excited to help you share it with the community!
Q: Can CMAC Staff be hired to produce my video?
Yes, if you would like to hire CMAC Staff to record/film your event, show, or video production, we offer production services that can be tailored to reach a price point that won’t break your budget. For a quote on your production, please fill out the CMAC Production Services Request Form and a member of our production staff will contact you.
