The journey to document local trailblazers began at the start of February 2023 with the launch of CMAC’s first production training cohort of the year!

Participants from the Dream Again Project, a youth work-readiness program, received specialized training from CMAC staff to enhance their media production skills. Over the next two weeks, the cohort created 10 captivating 1-minute interview-style videos featuring local trailblazers.

The final videos were showcased at the 2023 Black History Month Celebration Trailblazers Banquet hosted by the African American Historical & Cultural Museum on February 24. The cohort also recorded coverage of the event, which will air at a later date on CMAC.

Testimonials

Alex Soto | Community Media Coordinator
I am extremely proud of the young men who were selected to be a part of this program. They showed up each day eager to learn and gave me everything they had which resulted in a fantastic product that will benefit not only our community partners but the community as a whole.

Best Experience in my life so far!

This project meant a lot for me. In life, I did a lot of sleepwalking. I did things that didn’t have no meaning to it. Now that I’m doing something that has meaning to it, I’m growing.

Hersie Stovall | Founder, Dream Again Project
One of the great things is they are being focused so they don’t sleepwalk through their lives.

Unbelievable growth! It’s been very exciting to see them come up with things they can do and see their vision all the way through. That journey has been amazing.
