World's Largest Box of Raisins

ProducerCounty of Fresno
DescriptionNot only does Fresno County have more than 85,000 acres of raisins, but it's also home to the World's Largest Box of Raisins. In 1992, several students at California State University, Fresno, had the crazy idea of constructing the World's Largest Box of Raisins. After more than 300 hours of prep and 60 hours of construction time, the team completed the massive structure. On May 9th, the team filled the 12-foot tall, eight-foot wide, and 4-foot deep box with 16,500 lbs of raisins, solidifying its place in the Guinness Book of World Records. Then in July of '92, in celebration of Sun-Maid's 80th anniversary, the box was donated to the plant in Kingsburg, where it is still on display.
