In this fourth chapter, Magdalena and Louis finish their stay in Ingolstadt and are moved by the US Army 100 miles southeast, to the small village of Wasserburg am Inn. There they are given a room, just in time for baby Marianne to be born. A few months later, Louis’ brother Ödön and his family arrive, and the displaced Hungarians settle into life in war-torn Bavaria.
