Description"The woman that inspires me the most is the first woman that inspires most people in their lives -- my mother. She may not be the president of the United States or the Executive of a large corporation, but she escaped a Civil War in her native country of El Salvador when she just a teenage girl and immigrated to the United States without a dime to her name. My mother has had a hard life, and sometimes in my life I have felt that I have done nothing but make it harder. The relationship between mother and daughter is a complicated one, layered with love and regret. I see myself in her more and more everyday, and I think she's beginning to see herself in me too. My documentary would focus on my mother and I's relationship, focusing on her immigration to the United States, her experience acclimating to a new culture, and her experience being a mother. I love my mother dearly, she's my hero, and everyday I strive to be more like her. However, our relationship hasn't always been so healthy. I want this to be a film about love -- the power of feminine love between women, and the strength of that love between mother and daughter across different cultural understandings (my mother, an immigrant from El Salvador and I, a first-generation Mexican-Salvadoran American)".
