KeeSean Johnson is an all-star wide receiver at Fresno State, but growing up, football wasn’t his first love. It was his brother’s. “All I wanted to do is what he did,” KeeSean said. “After his first practice, I put his pads on and I felt like it was something I could do.” Raised in East Palo Alto, KeeSean and his older brother, Vincenté, focused on academics and football at the insistence of their parents. East Palo Alto was a rough neighborhood, KeeSean said, and both his mother and father ensured that their sons stayed active and off the streets.
