CalMatters Live: Neural tech in the workplace Emerging tools and their effects on workers

CalMatters August 11, 2025 1:00:08 Technology/Science
California is home to major companies who are exploring ways to tap into brains to measure focus levels while working, type your thoughts, or manipulate robots without saying a word. Employers in some parts of the world are already beginning to use tech that monitors neural data to track workers, but it’s a tough subject to follow because so few of us know what’s possible today and where it could go in the years ahead. This panel will explore the use cases that companies that tap into neural data are exploring today, how the technology can impact workers, how neural computing and AI like ChatGPT can influence the way people think, and how lawmakers are attempting to regulate brain data and how employers use it.
