ProducerKhalil Cumberbatch
Description2022 has been a year of significant change within the criminal justice reform movement. In this first of two episodes, a panel of experts looks back at 2022 and discusses where we are now and where the criminal legal reform world is heading in 2023. Topics include bail reform, fearmongering in the media, Rikers Island, mental health in jails and prisons in the U.S., and what do the mid-term election results mean for criminal legal reform both nationally and locally?  Guests are Scott Hechinger, civil rights attorney, long-time public defender, and the founder and executive director of Zealous, a national advocacy and education initiative working "to topple the historic imbalance of power over criminal justice media and policy." Also, Olayemi Olurin, the director of media advocacy at Zealous.
