In May 2023, the Fresno County Board of Supervisors allocated $1 million in American Rescue Plan Act funding to Poverello House to assist in building a modern kitchen. In August of the same year, the board donated an additional $1.5 million of ARPA funds to the project. These allocations will help Poverello House reach its goal of preparing 6,500 meals a day, which is more than 2 million meals a year. As the completion of the new kitchen nears, we'll take you inside to see how this new facility will impact the most vulnerable in our county.
