The Munro Review

The Munro Review is a non-profit arts journalism project fiscally sponsored by CMAC and is dedicated to connecting, sharing and valuing the arts in the central San Joaquin Valley.

The project is led by Donald Munro, a professional arts journalist. Donald has degrees from Columbia University and Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and spent an academic year doing postgraduate work as a National Arts Journalism Program fellow. He worked at The Fresno Bee for more than 25 years, including 16 of them covering the local arts and culture scene. He also teaches as an adjunct professor in Fresno State’s Department of Media, Communications and Journalism.

At and on his monthly video series, Donald offers a curated look at the local scene, with a special emphasis on theater, classical music, visual art, dance, and the literary arts. Donald believes that advance stories on upcoming events are an important part of arts coverage because they can give audience members added background in terms of relating to and connecting with an artistic event. He offers a critical voice through reviews and covers local arts news and notes and will even unleash Fresno-centric commentary from time to time.

The project is supported and sustained by monthly memberships, sponsorships and donations. All funds collected go directly toward expenses for The Munro Review and are processed by CMAC. Make a donation today at You can also help by spreading the word about Donald’s stories on social media.
